Investment Management

There’s nothing easy about managing investments in today’s uncertain world.  In fact, disciplined, conservative investment management is more important now than ever.

That’s why at Opus Wealth Management, we take your investments seriously.

First, we carefully control your risk.

Second, all investing is overseen by our Founder, Loic LeMener who has invested resources and years of time in earning advanced financial credentials: Chartered Financial Analyst® and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™.

These credentials, along with our experience, help ensure you get the specialized knowledge you need to achieve your goals.

Using a disciplined approach to help you achieve your goals

Many times, especially when the market is rising, people (and many financial advisors) focus far more on return than risk.  That can work during the wildly bullish times, but may leave you exposed to downside risk that eventually moves you farther away from your long-term goals…not closer.

That’s not how we manage your investments.

Instead, we believe that while markets can jump around wildly in the short term, that in the long term, true value wins.

Here’s what we do for you:

  • Employ time-tested “value investing” principles based on thorough and prudent analysis
  • Implement these principles with discipline, always
  • Always adhere to your appropriate risk level
  • Keep your investment costs and expenses low (which automatically increases your returns)
  • Focus on finding compelling values in the market

“We don’t have to be smarter than the rest. We have to be more disciplined.” – Warren Buffett

What we don’t do:

  • Try to time the market
  • Try to jump on the latest overpriced trendy investments that are priced for perfection
  • Swing for the fences with your money (speculate)

“He who lives by the crystal ball is destined to eat shattered glass” – Ray Dalio

Opus Wealth Investment Management FAQs

Q. How are you different than other wealth managers?

A. At Opus Wealth Management, we take advising your investments seriously. That’s why we’ve invested in more training than most other financial advisors out there.  Your money is managed by our credentialed staff who have earned both the Chartered Financial Analyst® and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional credentials.

Q. How is your approach different than many wealth managers?

A. In our experience, many wealth managers and financial advisors focus on helping you beat arbitrary stock indexes.  At Opus, we’re more interested in helping you achieve your life goals.  Why take more risk than you need to?  We focus instead about getting you from where you are now to where you want to be, in the most conservative way possible.

Q. What is your investment philosophy?

A. We focus only on the things we can control:

  • What we buy
  • How much we pay for it

That means that we don’t try to time the markets.   We also don’t believe in buying fad investments that are not financially sound or proven in the long-term.  It might be good for excitement, but it is not a prudent way to build sustainable wealth.  Instead, we focus on finding compelling valuations.  We don’t rush anything since we are looking for long term performance, not short term pops (or drops).

Most importantly, we always manage your risk.

Q. I don’t have time to learn about investing.  How can I oversee what you do?

A. We understand that if you’re not in the finance industry, you probably don’t know our unique terminology and jargon.  We consider it our job to educate you so you can make smart decisions about your money.

So we take the time to make sure you understand what you are invested in, and why.

Q. Can you help me manage my 401(k) or other retirement accounts?

A. Yes.  In fact, it’s critical that we see your other holdings.  So we will provide you with guidance on these accounts even if we don’t hold them.

Q. Are you a fiduciary?

A. Yes, we act as a fiduciary. That means we owe you a duty of care and loyalty and must always put your interests first.
